Training

The camp is available for up to 100 fencers aged over 16. (U-16 wanting to attend please can parents/guardians contact the camp organisers to discuss possibilities)

We arrive around 4pm Sunday 19th August in time for an evening meal and chance to settle into the centre. There will be opportunities to use any of the facilities whether that be the athlete lounge to relax or the gym for the really keen beans among the group.

6 days of training follows with rest time as and when required. No session is compulsory, you are free to pick and choose how much you do. A more detailed training plan will be posted on the website closer to the date of the camp.

Training will be split into 2 sessions a day with a civilised amount of time in between for lunch. Each session will start with a warm up and end with a cool down.

Fencers attending the camp through the National Academy or TASS will have certain training sessions different to the other campers, for example strengthening & conditioning. This will mean small groups of academy and TASS fencers being taken out of the daily program for these specific sessions before returning to take part in the general timetable

Training will include
FootworkSkills workshopsPair workFree fencingSpeed agilityLine lessonsPoulesScenario fencingCore strength workRotation fencingA full competition with placement matches

An individual lesson will be available every day with one of the camp coaches.

We will have members of the German National Cadet, Junior & Senior Squads joining us for 2 days specifically to spar with the fencers who come on the camp.

Also, we will be taking out our own physiotherapist this year. He will be there to treat any injuries that occur during the week. Also, should you like a sports massage this service can be provided for a cost of £20 for 30 mins.

After training has finished for the week there will be the usual fun and games including the legendary Haverstock Summer Camp Cabaret.

We will depart at 08:15 Sunday 26th August arriving back in the UK that evening and with it being a Bank Holiday weekend, hopefully, no need to get up and go to work on the Monday morning.

While the camp will not focus on fitness training, fencers will be able to use the gym, swimming pool and running track should they wish to as well as seek advice from experts on camp as to fitness training and training programs.
